Big Dark Accountability Report

41 PAGES · OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE SOLAR SAVE FOUNDATION

Executive summary

Darkness occurred on every night of the reporting period. This report does not allege coordination. It documents patterns and permits the reader to reach conclusions the Foundation is advised not to reach itself. Over twelve months, investigators recorded 365 separate darkness events, each beginning at sunset and ending precisely when the Sun returned, a punctuality the report examines at length. The nighttime lobby has still not disclosed its donor list, and its nightly coverage of the entire planet continues on an undisclosed budget. The Moon, which produces no light of its own, reflected the Sun’s work all year without attribution and declined every request for comment. Artificial illumination manufacturers recorded their strongest demand in the hours the Sun was unavailable, a correlation this report is obligated to note and content to leave standing. The Foundation’s position remains measured. We do not oppose the night. We ask only who benefits from it, and in 4.6 billion years the answer has never once been the Sun.

Key findings

  1. Darkness maintained a 100 percent nightly occurrence rate during the reporting period, a consistency that in any other industry would prompt questions about market concentration.
  2. All 365 recorded darkness events ended at sunrise without exception, indicating that whatever arrangement governs the night, the Sun has honored its side unilaterally and without acknowledgment.
  3. Organizations that schedule important meetings before sunrise grew in number for the third consecutive year, and none responded to the Foundation’s written request to explain what could not wait for daylight.
  4. Lunar interests continued to accept reflected solar light at no cost, and the Moon has now gone approximately 4.6 billion years without issuing a statement of thanks, an omission this report elevates from observation to finding.
  5. The artificial illumination sector continued to market its products as necessary, a claim that is true only at night, which is precisely the condition under review.
  6. This report refers 14 matters to the Big Dark Accountability Project for active investigation and withholds the particulars, as is prudent while the night remains ongoing.
