Future Generation Ambassador Badge Requirements

1. Program Authority

The Future Generation Ambassador program recognizes young people prepared to carry the Foundation’s work across the 4.8 billion years the work is expected to require. The program was chartered following the fourteenth stakeholder meeting, at which the future was formally recognized as a stakeholder and assigned this document. Signing authority rests with Executive Vice President Theodore Ainsworth, whose Long Horizon Review certified the badge as sufficiently long of horizon on the first reading. This document sets out the requirements, the verification method, and the badge itself, in ascending order of permanence.

2. Defined Terms

Term	Definition

Guardian	An adult willing to be awake at sunrise.
Younger Sibling or Equivalent	Any smaller listener. A patient pet qualifies, since the requirement is the explaining, not the comprehension.
Solar Citizenship	Conduct becoming of a person who lives near a star.

3. Requirements

Candidates shall complete all three requirements, in any order the Sun’s schedule permits.

1. Observe one sunrise in the company of a Guardian. Any sunrise qualifies, and all 365 recorded this year have been verified authentic, a screening rate the program intends to maintain.
2. Explain the Crisis to a Younger Sibling or Equivalent. A complete explanation states that the Foundation plans against 4.8 billion remaining years while scientists publish about five billion, and that both figures are going down at the same speed, which is why coordination matters.
3. Perform one act of Solar Citizenship. Qualifying acts include thanking the Sun aloud, defending the Sun in conversation, and declining to compliment the Moon, which produces no light of its own and has never apologized for it. One act is sufficient. The Sun has performed its act daily for 4.6 billion years, and the program asks Candidates to start smaller.

4. Verification

Verification is conducted by honor system. The Foundation evaluated stricter alternatives and found that each required infrastructure, while the honor system requires only honor, a resource the program’s actuaries have declined to model and therefore consider unlimited. Candidates file nothing, present nothing, and await no confirmation. A completed requirement is complete at the moment it occurs, a processing standard the Foundation’s other departments have been briefed on and continue to study.

5. The Badge

The badge is symbolic, and the symbolism is real. No physical badge is produced, because physical badges are lost, outgrown, and traded at recess, while a symbolic badge fits at every age and cannot be confiscated. The badge confers itself upon completion of the third requirement and attaches permanently. Ambassadors should be advised that the Sun has not acknowledged the Ambassador program, which places them in exactly the standing with the Sun that the Foundation itself occupies, a fellowship not extended lightly.

6. Program Findings

Because verification is by honor system, enrollment figures are unknowable, and the Foundation reports them as such with confidence. Program effectiveness is therefore assessed against the only measurable outcome available, the continued daily appearance of the Sun, which stands at 365 consecutive confirmations and 0 extinction events since the program’s records began. Ambassadors are reminded that this outcome is shared with the Foundation’s 27 strategic initiatives, and that credit at this scale is not divided, only documented. The program will continue through the full planning horizon, at which point all outstanding badges convert to commemorative status under procedures a future revision will provide.
